I am not sure if I found pottery or if pottery found me. Regardless, it was a love story meant to be.
Since childhood, I have been drawn to and inspired by nature and its elements, at my happiest in the mountains, by a campfire, or by the water. I have also always been fascinated with the concept of self-sufficiency. I enjoy making things from scratch and growing my own food. I love to travel and explore new ways of doing things, new ways of thinking. I have travelled to the four corners of the earth and as a result of my travels, I have grown to appreciate the rich history of pottery and learned how much it plays a central role in most cultures, from the ritual of serving tea and food, and carrying water, to building houses from clay.
The process of working with clay, of shaping in my hands a ball of mud and witnessing its slow transformation from a state of fragility and vulnerability, to an object that is both durable and practical, captivates me. Drawing inspiration from the natural elements, I choose simplicity in form, texture and color. I strive to create objects of beauty that are practical and down-to-earth, and that reflect what I see and feel. A lot of love, thought and work goes into everything that I make. There is a synergy between form and function. No two pieces are the same, each expressing its individual uniqueness and personality, and reflecting my passion and mood. When you buy handmade, you buy that passion, that individuality, that perfect fit. In this world of mass-produced objects, it feels good to celebrate the handmade.
Each piece has a story; the story begins in my studio and continues in your home.
We write the story together.
