Phil Brookman has spent the last forty years working with wood as a hobby, but has focused on box making only for the past 15 years. A physiotherapist by profession, he found that retirement gave him more time to develop skills suited to box making and making inlay banding, though still finds time to work with custom furniture pieces when needed. Phil finds the grains and colours of Western Maple, walnut, oak, apple, plum and butternut fascinating and challenging to blend into inlays and boxes.
Phil's work is all done in his home workshop in Nanaimo, BC with his constant companion in the shop - his Maine Coone, Fergus. When not working in the shop he enjoys cruising and camping with his wife Kate, genealogy and Scouting. Proceeds from the boxes help with funding at the local Scout Camp.
